The poet takes her palette of words and composes
Using language as her art form
The poet paints us a picture
It is a vision.
She takes her pen
Instead of a brush
And writes the words
That enable us to visualize.
Her colors are the adjectives and metaphors
Through her eyes
We see the canvas
And the forms and shapes
Come into clarity.
The ideas come through her
And onto the paper
She makes us smile or cry
And touches us
The same way an artist does
When you see the creation
She has put forth on the tapestry.
In this way, they are interchangeable
Artists paint and poets write
And we are forever
