THE DANCER AND THE POET

Out of the shadows the dancer emerged
Her dark eyes were filled with the light of life
She turned and twirled and melted his poet's soul.

For a time they denied their deep feelings
We watched and we knew that slowly their walls would crumble
And the dancer and the poet knew it too.

And the poet gave his heart to her
He lifted her spirits even higher and
The words he spoke gave a sunrise to her smile.

Listen, do you hear their music?
It's the dancer and the poet
Turning slowly, looking into each other's eyes
Dancing warm eyes, smiling and loving.

Watch and see them whirl the dance floor
Happy faces in their glowing, soul mates dancing.
What is it in their knowing that others have forgotten?

Loving each other's existence.
Hold tight you two but be ever so gentle
Now as you dance, you are real.
Dancing with laughter, loving your laughter.

So let there be tranquillity
Let there be harmony
Let there be love already begun
For the dancer and the poet are one.
